Hey, I’m Liam. I’m originally from Edinburgh in Scotland, and I've been based in London since 2010. I’m a lifelong musician with over two decades of experience in the music industry, as a mix engineer, record producer, live sound and studio engineer, songwriter and performing musician.

 MUSICAL BACKGROUND

My passion for music was nurtured in a musical household, learning violin at three years old before learning the trombone in primary school. I dedicated my teenage years to mastering the guitar, studying music and playing in bands. At the age of seventeen, I achieved Grade 8 with distinction. During this time, I was also a core member of the band Jakil, where we enjoyed a fifteen-year journey, touring the UK extensively in our tour bus complete with logo down the side, selling out headline shows across the country. I also play the drums, bass, double bass, sing and I know my way around the piano.

 EDUCATION AND EXPERTISE

I graduated with distinction from Abbey Road Institute in London in 2019 and obtained a First Class BA Honours degree in Popular Music from Edinburgh Napier University in 2011. I am a certified Avid ProTools user and a Logic Pro X expert. I am well-versed in industry-standard tools, tastes and techniques.

 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working in renowned UK studios such as Abbey Road Studios 1, 2 and 3, Metropolis, Miloco, Soup Studio and Earth Terminal with esteemed producers and engineers like Sylvia Massey (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tool), Charles Reeves (Prince, Radiohead), James Fitzgerald (BTS, Dua Lipa), Haydn Bendall (Paul McCartney, Kate Bush), Jamie Snell (Ellie Goulding, NAO), Cam Blackwood (George Ezra, Florence & The Machine) and Christian Wright (Ed Sheeran, Coldplay). In addition to my studio work, I’m an experienced live sound and AV engineer. I have organised and operated AV for a wide range of events, for clients such as Paul McCartney, Sony Entertainment, The Old Vic Theatre, Richard Branson, as well as corporate events and live broadcasts for clients like Channel 4, Shell and various UK political parties.

 APPROACH AND PHILOSOPHY

As a musician myself, I approach each project with a balance of technical proficiency and musicality, making sure your recordings not only sound like a record, but also capture the essence of your unique musical vision. My aim is to bring out and enhance the emotions you felt when you wrote the song in the first place.
